AMHERST COUNTY, VA -

The Amherst County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide of a woman found Friday morning in a local motel.

When employees at the Executive Inn, 4673 South Amherst Highway, went to check on a guest who had not checked out, they found the body of a female.

Deputies found 41-year old Arnita Michelle Cheatham of Appomattox and lately of Norfolk dead. Cheatham was reported missing on July 31st from the Town of Appomattox.

She died from blunt force injures to the head. Her 2006 silver Hyundai 4 door sedan is also missing.

Investigators are currently trying to locate Cheatham's husband, Sylvester Mathew Cheatham. He is a 49 year old male who stands 5'7" tall and weighs 188 pounds.  He has brown eyes and black / white hair.  

No weapons, drugs or alcohol were found in the room.

Anyone that has any information on the death of Ms Cheatham, the location of Mr. Cheatham or the missing vehicle is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-798-5900. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information regarding this crime. All information is totally confidential.
