Last Wednesday the Judge in Federal Court allowed a continuance to give Chris Latham's Attorney a little more time to prepare, after his client was arrested a day earlier for his alleged role in a murder for hire plot involving his wife.

News 2 talked to Chris Latham's attorney Steve Schmutz on Monday before the hearing. He said this is a case of presumed detention, meaning if he doesn't prove otherwise his Client Chris Latham will remain behind bars. He would not be released on a bond, as court proceedings continue in the weeks and possible months ahead.

Schmutz also said federal agents will take the stand and discuss the charges they have on Latham then as his attorney Schmutz will have to prove that Chris Latham is not a flight risk and he is not a danger to others.

Latham is charged on 3 Counts of a five count federal indictment, investigators say he conspired with at least 3 other people that included his alleged love interest Wendy Moore, in a plan to have his wife Nancy Killed.

For the first time federal prosecutors will offer details about Chris Latham's alleged role in the scheme.   Nancy Latham is expected to address the court as well. The hearing is set to begin this Monday afternoon at 1:30.

A former police officer recalls how he nearly lost his life in the line of duty one evening back in 1970. He was paralyzed from the waist down but didn't let them hold him back from working or helping implement big changes for police officer's training and cars. It's been nearly 44 years since that day Gilbert Smith was ordered to take a drunken suspect found on the road to jail.
