Deputies searching for suspect after cigarette theft on James Island

Charleston County detectives are asking for your help in identifying the suspect involved in a robbery on James Island Monday.

Deputies say they responded to the Kangaroo Express on Folly Road just after 1:00 a.m. Monday after a man reportedly entered the business, approached the counter and took off with a box containing approximately 30 cartons of cigarettes with a value of $1,300.00.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-ten-inch black male, weighing around 200 pounds. He was wearing a white tank top and white pants at the time of the robbery.

Anyone knowing the identity and or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to contact the Charleston County Sheriff's Office at 843-202-1700 or Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.
