The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating an overnight fatal accident in Dorchester County.

A little before midnight Saturday, two cars were traveling northbound on 17-A about half a mile from the Highway 61 intersection.

According to the Highway Patrol, 21-year-old Taylor Watkins, driving a Jeep, tried to pass the other car.  The two cars made contact and the Jeep went off-road and flipped, ejecting 21-year-old Amanda Carey.

Carey was killed in the accident.  SCHP says she was not wearing a seatbelt.

Watkins has been charged with driving under the influence.

This accident is still under investigation.
