Dorchester County school building program update

According to the Dorchester County School District spokesperson, leaders with the school district will announce new details in site selections for the new schools in the district's building program.

The district has plans to build four new schools. Sites for two elementary schools have already been identified at Pine Trace and The Ponds.  Sites for the third elementary school and a middle school have yet to be determined.

Several district staff members, including Robert Folkman, district capital improvement facilitator, and several school board members who serve on the board Construction Committee will present an update at 11:00 AM Wednesday.

The three new elementary schools are scheduled to open in 2015. The new middle school is expected to open the following year.

The North Charleston Dixie Majors baseball team, representing South Carolina, won the Dixie Majors World Series in Ozark, Alabama. North Charleston lost the first game to Texas Wednesday 11-1, forcing a second game. The second game came down to the final out, with South Carolina beating Texas 2-1, winning the series.
