SC school district tries to reach dropout students

Posted: Updated:

An Orangeburg school district is trying to get students who have dropped out of high school back in the classroom.

School District Five's office of dropout prevention is holding a walk Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to bring attention to the problem.

The walk begins at Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School.

Volunteers who are at least 21 years of age are needed to seek out the students who have dropped and help them return.

Men and women from the Department of Public Safety and the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office are also going out into the community to reach out to potential returnees.
