Georgetown woman hit, killed by vehicle while crossing street

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating an accident where a vehicle hit a pedestrian.

According to SCHP, 82-year-old Frances Moree was trying to cross North Fraser Street near Empire Court Road at around 4:00 Saturday afternoon.

She was struck by a Chevy Suburban traveling northbound on North Fraser. The driver of the Suburban had no injuries.

SCHP says Moree died at the scene.

The Georgetown County Coroner says cause of death is multiple trauma and internal injuries.

SCHP says charges are not being filed at this time, but this accident is still under investigation.
