Candlelight Vigil planned for William "Alex" Apps

Posted: Updated:

Sunday, friends and family will gather on Sullivans Island to remember the life of William "Alex" Apps.

Friends will gather on Sullivans Island tomorrow at 7:00 in front of the lighthouse for a candlelight vigil. Apps' funeral will be held next Saturday in Beaufort.

Apps' body was found in Mount Pleasant earlier this week after authorities say two men murdered him and then hid his body.

Officials say Apps, who is originally from Beaufort, was working to sell his truck to DQuan Scott and Isaac Williams. Police say Apps came into contact with the two on Craigslist. Scott and Williams were arrested armed robbery and murder charges.

It's been nearly 44 years since that day Gilbert Smith was ordered to take a drunken suspect found on the road to jail.
