Charleston NAACP to hold press conference on police shootings

The Charleston branch of the NAACP announced late Monday, that it will hold a press conference to address the recent shooting of Derryl Drayton by Charleston County Sheriff's deputies.

Charleston County Sheriff Al Cannon held a press conference Monday to defend his deputies, saying they gave Drayton several chances to surrender before using lethal force.

The press release sent by Rev. Joe Darby does not reference any other shootings, but said the statement will address the "recent troubling wave of shootings by law enforcement".

The NAACP press conference is scheduled for Wednesday morning at 11:00.
