EUFAULA, Ala. -

Eufaula police are declining to release any additional information about a police-involved shooting there Tuesday. They have turned the investigation over to state authorities.

The ABI is investigating after 26-year-old Cameron Massey was shot and killed by a police officer Tuesday afternoon. Authorities aren't saying anything about the case, but Massey's mother says her son was not a violent man.

"They started off with the hard core force that they had," says Jacqueline Massey. "You could have tazed him in that car. They didn't even taze him, so do you train to shoot, kill first?"

Two eyewitnesses say shortly after the car Massey was a passenger in pulled into the parking lot of the One Stop 431 Wrecker Service, the police officer approached the Infinity, grappled with Massey over the steering wheel, and fired four shots at him, hitting him in the head, neck and chest. The witnesses say Massey never fired a weapon.

Jacqueline says even though her son had prior run-ins with the law regarding marijuana possession, she has never known him to carry a gun.

"I fussed at him a lot, that's just what mothers do," she says. "I don't condone anything, but he's my son and he was very respectful to people. He would help anybody. I have never seen him with a weapon. That's just not his character."

Massey's stepfather John Jackson says just minutes before he was reportedly shot, he called and asked for the mayor's number. He says something wasn't right.

Massey leaves behind three daughters, and had three more children on the way, including a set of twins. Jacqueline says she still hasn't been told anything about her son's death from authorities, nor has she been allowed to see his body.

Eufaula resident and funeral home owner Robert Franklin says, "The people need to pull together and pray for that family because she's definitely going to need prayer and strength to get through losing a son at the hand of another individual."

Barbour County has been the scene of two other unrelated shootings in the past week. One suspect has been arrested in connection with one of the cases.

Eufaula mayor Jack Tibbs declined our request for an interview to discuss any of the three shootings.

We've made several attempts to get information from the ABI, but calls have not been returned. In an email from the Alabama Department of Public Safety, under which the ABI falls, we were told per state law, details will not be released as the investigation is ongoing.

Once the investigation is complete, the ABI's findings will be turned over to the district attorney for review.
