3-way safety checks planned at Coastal Carolina Fair

Posted: Updated:

Wednesday the Coastal Carolina Fair swings into motion in Ladson. This year organizers with the Exchange Club said there would be 66 rides.

Rides undergo a three way inspection.  Joe Bolchoz, a spokesman for the Coastal Carolina Fair, said the state inspects rides. The carnival group inspects, and the Exchange Club hired a third-party to inspect.

The Nemesis will replace the Vortex, which injured several riders at a fair in North Carolina this month. There are also five new rides for kids. Those include a Wild West ride and a racecar ride.

Before entering the fair, parents can print tickets with an emergency contact number for kids.  New this year, parents can also measure the height of their children and snap a photo, which can be distributed to the Charleston County Sheriff's deputies on location.

Organizers said the best time to visit the fair is during the week.
