Colleton County Deputies seize large sum of money that K-9 targets as having narcotic odor

While searching the vehicle, deputies located a large sum of US currency inside luggage located in the rear of the vehicle. While searching the vehicle, deputies located a large sum of US currency inside luggage located in the rear of the vehicle.
COLLETON COUNTY, SC -

On Tuesday, October 29 at approximately 9:26 p.m. a deputy with the Colleton County Sheriff's Office, while on route patrol, observed a white 2013 Toyota Minivan commit a traffic violation.

A traffic stop was initiated near the 45 mile marker on Interstate 95 southbound. During the traffic stop, consent to search the vehicle was granted by the driver.

While searching the vehicle, deputies located a large sum of US currency inside luggage located in the rear of the vehicle. A narcotics detection K-9 was deployed on the currency and gave a positive alert for the presence of narcotic odor on the US currency.

Homeland Security Investigations, HSI, was called to assist and the US currency, $137,400.01, was abandoned by both occupants of the vehicle.

This incident is still under investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.
