All lanes of Rivers Avenue are open again as North Charleston firefighters continue cleaning up after Thursday morning's fire at the Hampton Oaks Apartments.

The fire started around 5:15 a.m., and quickly consumed 16 units, leaving 13 families homeless.

The complex is located in the 6600 block of Rivers Avenue.

Lisa Quick with the American Red Cross says they are with the families at Stall High School assessing their  needs.  She says 16 apartments were damaged or destroyed affecting 13 families.

No injuries were reported in this fire.  The cause remains under investigation.

This is the second fire at the Hampton Oaks Apartment in one week. On Wednesday there was a fire in a different building. Officials tell us it is unrelated to Thursday's fire.
