SWAT Team called to Goose Creek home overnight

Posted: Updated:

A SWAT team was called out Friday at approximately 4 a.m after a woman barricaded herself inside home with a gun.

The residence is located on Amy Drive. According to Goose Creek police, EMS were called to treat a woman who was reported to be hallucinating. EMS technicians met with the subject who said she had a gun so they retreated for safety reasons. Officers spoke with the woman's adult daughter who confirmed that there were several guns in the residence.

GCPD says a duty supervisor established phone contact with the subject and attempted to convince her to come out of the residence to no avail. The SWAT Team was called in. Traffic in the area was rerouted during the operation for safety reasons.

The woman was placed into custody safely, and taken to the hospital. Police say no charges will be filed.
