Bill Cosby honored in North Charleston for his work with youth

Sunday night, legendary comedian Bill Cosby received the Charleston Award for his efforts in mentoring youth and being a role model for several generations.

He was presented with the Summey Barkley Rucker Medallion before his show at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center.

Past recipients of the Summey Barkley Rucker Medallion are:

2011: Anita Zucker, Internationally known philanthropist and InterTech Group CEO

2012: Lonnie Hamilton III, an iconic figure in Lowcountry education, arts and politics

"Mr. Cosby's name on the Summey Barkley Rucker Medallion is a major asset which will inspire more people to pick up the mentoring torch to help and challenge young people to broaden the horizons of individual potential, and instill the discipline required for a career in the arts, or equally; a productive and rewarding life," Mary Gould said.

    A Charleston doctor has created a robot that he says is designed to help fight the spread of the Ebola virus. The robot is known is Tru-D, It is five feet tall. It has a UVC light which is designed to break down the DNA of organisms, such as viruses. "The heart of the device are these sensors on top of the device.
