Charleston police announce arrests in West Ashley fatal shooting

Thursday afternoon police announced the arrest of two suspects for the homicide on Sequoia Street in West Ashley Wednesday evening.

Valentino Hayward, 23, is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.  Anisah Pearson, 20 is charged with accessory after the fact of murder.

Hayward and Pearson are being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center, where they are scheduled to have a bond hearing at 2 p.m. Friday, December 13.

Wednesday night Charleston City Police responded to the scene behind 6340 Sequoia Street where a black male was found shot.

Police have identified the victim in the shooting as 23-year-old Deontre Miles of Moncks Corner.

Investigators are still gathering information in reference to the incident.
