SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio -

A school bus driver in Ohio who has survived cancer twice got a big surprise from this week from the kids at his bus stop when all the families in the neighborhood came together to buy him a new North Face coat.

Fred Taylor has done the route in Shaker Heights for 21 years with remarkable enthusiasm even though he missed 2009 because of a transplant, WKYC in Cleveland reported. A father in the neighborhood sent a note to eight families about the idea, and 43 wound up contributing.

On a snowy morning, all the kids in the area were gathered at one stop, and he greeted the kids and families with a big hug, saying, "I love you guys!"

"Our bus driver, he's a really great man. He's been our friend," one boy told WKYC.

"He's really cool," said a girl.

"This job does not stress me out. It makes my day every day," Taylor said.
