Crews at scene of Anson Street restaurant fire

CHARLESTON, SC - Officials say a fire at Anson restaurant is under control and crews are searching for hotspots in the building.

The Charleston Fire Department received a call at 12:04 p.m. Tuesday afternoon for a reported fire at Anson restaurant.  Callers reported flames shooting out of the exhaust vent on the roof of the building.

Fire crews arrived at the scene within 3 minutes and reported visible fire on the roof.  Firefighters found a fire burning in the kitchen hood system that had extended and involved the building.

Authorities say no injuries have been reported at this time.  The building was occupied at the time of the incident.

 Crews are not sure of the cause of at this time but do say it started in the kitchen area of the restaurant. The restaurant was not open at the time but there were employees inside preparing for the Christmas Eve dinner. Anson Restaurant opened in 1992.
