16-year-old charged with attempted murder after teen shot at Dillon party

DILLON – Dillon County Sheriffs deputies investigate a shooting that sent a teenage boy to the hospital.

The incident happened around 12:30 Friday morning on Highway 9 East in the Riverdale community of Dillon.

Captain Cliff Arnett tells News13 the shooting happened at some sort of party at the American Legion building.

A 16-year-old is in custody and has been charged with attempted murder for the shooting incident, Arnette said Friday afternoon.

There is no word on the condition of the shot teen.

    Thousands lined the streets to honor Charleston County Sheriff's deputy Joe Matuskovic.The Lowcountry paused to pay its respects to the deputy that was killed in a shootout last Monday night. Streets and highways were shutdown throughout the day so the several miles long procession could take the deputy to his final resting place at Old Saint Andrew's Parish Church Cemetery.
