Pit bull stolen from adopt-a-thon has been found

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC -

The two-year-old rescue pitbull taken from the Lowcountry Animal Rescue center's adopt-a-thon has been safe, the center's Facebook page reports.

Samson was allegedly taken during the adoption event on Saturday from the Petco on Rivers Avenue. The director told News 2 a man asked to play with the dog, but he ended up walking out of the store and disappeared.

A reward was originally set at $500, but the organization said donations raised that total to $1300.

The organization announced the discovery via their Facebook page which read:

"Samson is back in our custody! Thanks to Channel 2's newscast a tip was called to us we have him back. Great news. Thanks to everyone for your wonderful support. We couldn't have done it without you."
