Tuesday morning at approximately 9:53 a.m. police responded to the First Federal Bank on Robinson Road in response to a possible bank robbery.

According to police a lone gunman, described as a black male dressed in all black, walked into the bank during the morning hours, presenting a handgun demanding money. He fired one shot into the ceiling and left with an undisclosed amount of money in a backpack.

After the man robbed the bank, he reportedly fled on foot across the street into a wooded area. According to local published reports, the Colleton Medical Center was put on lock down and local businesses were alerted to be on the lookout for the suspect.

Colleton County Sheriff's deployed a tracking dog and followed the scent through the woods towards Bell Road. They crossed Bell Road onto Sharon Drive then lost the scent.

No injuries were reported and police are still actively searching for the suspect.
