CHARLESTON, SC - Power has been going in and out throughout the Lowcountry due to this winter weather.

If your power goes out, it might take hours or more to be turned back on, so plan accordingly.

SCE&G says they are taking calls of reported power outage and have trucks on stand-by to fix any outages. If you want to report an outage, call 1.888.333.4465. To view outages visit the SCE&G website.

Officials at SCE&G remind everyone to stay away from downed power lines. Even if the power might be out, always assume the line is hot. Ice and tree limbs can bring down power lines.

Berkeley Electric Cooperative line crews are responding to the outages throughout our service area.

Berkeley Electric Cooperative has experienced outages related to trees contacting the power lines and some lines have been taken down by the heavy weight.  Currently, we have outages affecting the heavily wooded areas with approximately 4000 members affected over a widespread area.  Nearly 5000 have already been restored as crews worked all through the night at many different locations.

Crews will be working until all power is restored

Berkeley Electric Cooperative are also taking call of reported power outages.  To report an outage call 1.888.253.4232 or visit the Berkeley Electric website.

Also, use extreme caution when operating and utilizing supplemental heaters and generators. It can be tempting to use a stove or grill to put heat in your residence if you heater is out, but those must ever be used due to fire risks and gases. Take care when using generators and planning to check on them to make sure there are no gas leaks.
