Berkeley Electric continues to work on power outages from winter weather

CHARLESTON, SC - Berkeley Electric Cooperative crews continue to respond to the outages throughout our service area in Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties.  

Currently, we have outages affecting less than 400 members, but over a widespread area.  Nearly 11,000 have already been restored as crews continued to work all through the night at many different locations.

In spite of errant reports, crews worked all through the night and will continue today until all power is restored.

If you see a downed power line, stay away from the line and report it immediately to BEC.

    Major Eric Watson with the Charleston County sheriffs office tells News 2 they’ve been called in by SLED to investigate an officer involved shooting in St. George.We're told SLED and the US Marshall's task force was there to serve a warrant just before 11 Tuesday morning at 114 Winningham Road at the Southern Inn. We're told the suspect from Connecticut is wanted for murder and probation violation. There was a short pursuit in the parking lot before the suspect drew a weapon and 2 SLED agents...
