Deputies investigating attempted armed robbery at Dollar General in Hollywood

Deputies say that employees were closing up for the night when the suspect tried to enter the front door. Deputies say that employees were closing up for the night when the suspect tried to enter the front door.

Charleston County Sheriff's Office deputies are investigating an attempted armed robbery of the Dollar General Store in Hollywood.

According to the CCSO, deputies were called to the Dollar General on Highway 17, at around 8:45 p.m.. on Wednesday night.

Deputies say that employees were closing up for the night when the suspect tried to enter the front door. The door was already locked and employees refused to open it, even after the suspect attempted to force them to let him in.

The employees called 911 and the suspect left the scene on foot.

No one was hurt. The Sheriff's Office K9 Unit responded to the scene, but was unable to track the suspect.
