Authorities in Charleston County are investigating a homicide after an attempted armed robbery lead to a fatal shooting in Ladson Sunday.
Charleston County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to 206 Dunmeyer Hill Road in Ladson, just after 6:00 Sunday morning, to investigate a report of an attempted armed robbery and a shooting incident.
Upon arrival, they were met by the homeowner, who stated that as he was leaving his residence and walking toward his car, a white male subject approached him and attempted to stun him with what he believed to be a stun gun or a taser. Police did find a stun gun on the scene.
After a brief struggle, the homeowner pulled out a hand gun that he was carrying and shot three times. He stated that he did not know where the suspect was when he shot. Police found the suspect face down in the homeowners driveway.
EMS pronounced the suspect dead at the scene. The homeowner was transported to Trident Medical Hospital to be treated for injuries that he sustained during this incident.
The coroner identified the suspect as Robert Deziel from Summerville and says he died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Meanwhile, the circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.
No arrests have been made at this time.
