Outages growing across the lowcountry

Over 22,000 customers are without power Wednesday after a winter storm brought freezing rain to the Lowcountry. Over 22,000 customers are without power Wednesday after a winter storm brought freezing rain to the Lowcountry.
CHARLESTON, SC - Almost 80,000 customers are without power Wednesday after a winter storm brought freezing rain to the Lowcountry.

According to SCE&G officials, as of 12:30 Wednesday afternoon 3,351 are without power in Berkeley County, 6,251 in Charleston, 6,297 in Colleton, 28,999 in Dorchester, and 4,585 in Orangeburg.
 
In the Summerville, Walterboro and North Charleston region about 47,627 are without power. In the Charleston and Mount Pleasant about 4,424 are without power for SCE&G customers.

Across South Carolina, almost 75,000 SCE&G customers are without power.

 Berkeley Electric Co-op is reporting around 47,000 without power across the state.  In Berkeley county, about 27,000 are without power.

BEC says the total has steadily risen throughout the morning and is expected to increase throughout the day.
