Stratford football coach Ray Stackley retiring in May

GOOSE CREEK, SC - The head football coach for the Stratford Knights has announced his retirement.

Thursday Ray Stackley announced that he will be stepping down from his position as head football coach at Stratford High School effective at the end of May.

Stackley, 63-years-old, came to Stratford when it opened 31 years ago as an assistant on the coaching staff.  He was named head coach and athletic director a few years later and held that position for 29 years.  The football field at Stratford High is named in his honor.

Coach Stackley retires with 270 wins and 18 Region Titles.  He took the Knights to three state title games, winning it all in 1999.

Stackley has said he wants to spend more time with his family.

The North Charleston Dixie Majors baseball team, representing South Carolina, won the Dixie Majors World Series in Ozark, Alabama. North Charleston lost the first game to Texas Wednesday 11-1, forcing a second game. The second game came down to the final out, with South Carolina beating Texas 2-1, winning the series.
