SALISBURY, N.C. -

Authorities have arrested a 17-year-old Rowan County high school student who they say created an Instagram account and posted a nude photo of a 15-year-old girl on the social media site.

The Rowan County Sheriff's Office said the student is charged with cyberbullying. He and the victim are students at West Rowan High School.

Deputies said they received a report on Wednesday of a possible case of a nude photo being posted to social media. Investigators say the photo was originally sent to the girl's boyfriend, but was leaked to the student, who then posted it on Instagram.

The student was arrested at the school Friday and suspended.

Six counties are already involved in a State Bureau of Investigation inquiry into nude photos of high school students appearing on social media.
