UPDATE: North Charleston Officer hurt in car crash

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - A North Charleston Police Officer and Chaplin were taken to the hospital Wednesday night after their cruiser flipped.

They were involved in a single car crash around 10:30p.m. Wednesday night on Palmetto Commerce Parkway. They were traveling eastbound.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the officer, officer Victor Hendrix and Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy’s volunteer chaplain Bill Youngblood were heading to call involving a gun when the officer lost control. When going around a curb, they hit a raised median overturning the cruiser.

There will be no charges, but the driver is at fault, according to the SCHP.

Both were taken to MUSC with unknown injuries. Youngblood and the officer were treated and released.

Officer Hendrix has been with the department for 3 years.
