Pizza shop in Georgetown opens following fire

Posted: Updated:
GEORGETOWN, S.C. -

This week, customers lined up at Georgetown Family Pizza in Maryville. It's been almost five months since a fire spread through downtown Georgetown, gutting seven buildings and several businesses. Then about a month after that fire, a fire broke out at Georgetown Family Pizza.

Now Susan Lambert is back to serving up pizzas, subs and more.

Chefs, Tracy Jones and Aimee Louise have been very busy filling orders but were glad to be back at work.

Lambert said while the fire was devastating, it made her realize how valuable it is in the area.

She didn't receive cleanup efforts from the city or the state. Instead she got help from folks in the community, which sped up the rebuilding process and allowed her to re-open sooner than expected. She told our media partners at the Georgetown Times, "It makes you humble because you see their concern comes from the heart."
