Man believed to be last seen with missing 8-year-old, is found dead

Posted: Updated:

Investigators searching for an 8-year-old girl discovered a man's body in a park in east Washington, DC Monday.

The body is believed to be Kahlil Tatum, the man last seen with Relisha Rudd back on March first.

This is the first break in the search for the 8-year-old and they scoured the area nearby to try and find clues. Divers searched the Anacostia River near the Benning Road Bridge and volunteers and canines were brought in to try and get answers to Rudd's whereabouts.

Investigators say they believe Tatum likely killed himself.
