TN Murder Suspects In Custody After Newberry Co. Search

Posted: Updated:
NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. - Officials have taken all four murder suspects from Tennessee into custody in Newberry County Thursday.  This comes after a massive manhunt.

The suspects were found when someone saw them run through a field into a wooded area.

Authorities quickly surrounded the area and the helicopter was able to track them until they were in custody, a news release from the Newberry County Sheriff's Office states.

The three males and one female had been on the run from Greenville, TN since 11 p.m. Wednesday.

A 5 square mile search perimeter was set up near US 176 and SC 34.

Authorities tell us a deputy spiked the tires of the car they were in and the suspects ran into the woods.

Investigators found multiple firearms in the car, including an AK-47, according to reports from WLTX-TV, the CBS affiliate in Columbia.  It was believed the suspects had other weapons with them.

Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster was asking anyone living near the search area to keep their doors and vehicles locked.
