Victim identified in fatal accident on Johns Island

Officials are investigating a fatal vehicle accident on Johns Island.

Charleston County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Main Road in the area of Mary Anne Pointe and Chisholm Road on Johns Island, in reference to a single vehicle single accident around 3:30am Sunday morning.

The driver, 20 year-old Madison Wheeler, sustained fatal injuries after the Chevrolet Cruz she was driving left the road and struck a tree.
She was traveling southbound on Main Road.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division is investigating the accident at this time.

    On Thursday a victim of domestic violence speaks out about her violent and traumatic encounter to News 2. She is speaking out in support of a push for more legislation that will protect women that find themselves in her same shoes. Christy Coleman survived a brutal attack and build up the courage to testify against her attacker in court. Her abuser was sentenced to three years in prison this week.
