3rd Annual Ron Burgundy Media Challenge at James Island County Park

JAMES ISLAND, SC - Charleston County Parks invited Lowcountry media outlets of all kinds to a friendly little competition at the kickoff of the East Coast Paddlesports & Outdoor Festival! The 3rd Annual Ron Burgundy Media Challenge was a relay competition at James Island County Park in search for the best media team in Charleston.

The race featured a three-part paddle across the lake, a climb up the portable climbing wall, a ride through a mountain bike obstacle course, and a bow and arrow target shoot. 

News 2's team assembled and showed up ready to compete.

Prizes were given out to the Fastest Team and the Best Dressed Team. News 2 took home 1st place in the challenge, while the ladies from Skirt Magazine placed for Best Dressed Team.

The East Coast Paddlesports & Outdoor Festival runs April 11th - 13th at James Island County Park.  You and your friends and family can try out the activities just like the News 2 Team, at the "Try It Zone" during the fest. Admission to the festival is $10.

    Thousands lined the streets to honor Charleston County Sheriff's deputy Joe Matuskovic.The Lowcountry paused to pay its respects to the deputy that was killed in a shootout last Monday night. Streets and highways were shutdown throughout the day so the several miles long procession could take the deputy to his final resting place at Old Saint Andrew's Parish Church Cemetery.
