Ex-teacher faces more charges after student sexual relationship revealed

Posted: Updated:
Lakeland, FL - Former English teacher Jennifer Fichter, 29, faces an additional 20 counts of unlawful activity with a minor after a second alleged sexual relationship with a student. She taught at Central Florida Aerospace Academy in Lakeland, Florida.

She's accused of having sex with a 17-year-old junior at the school during a relationship that lasted from October 2011 to May 2012 when she was 26, authorities said.  The Polk County Sheriff's Office said the victim did not come forward but rather authorities sought him for questioning in the case. Authorities say it started when the student stayed after school, and then the two started texting and eventually he went to her apartment.

Authorities began an investigation in 2012, when the teacher reportedly confessed to a co-worker she was infatuated with a 14-year-old. Apparently she communicated through Facebook with the teen but denied there was anything sexual about their conversations. That didn't lead to charged but police did charge Fichter with six counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor for another relationship that reportedly ended with an abortion of that student's baby. The teen's mother agreed to talk with Fichter and record the conversation for detectives.

During the call, Fichter reportedly admitted the pregnancy and also said she loved the teen.

The school board continues its own investigation of Fichter who was fired this month.
