Charleston Police have arrested a suspect for a March 19, 2014 strong armed robbery that occurred on Magazine Street.

Monterio Brown, 21, of Florida Avenue, North Charleston, is charged with strong armed robbery. Brown was being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.

The incident occurred about 10:00 p.m. while the victim was walking on Magazine Street. She noticed a man walking behind her and he appeared to be talking on his cellular telephone.

She felt nervous so she began to walk slowly so the man could walk past her and he did.

The victim entered her driveway and stopped to get her keys out of her purse. That’s when the suspect struck her on the top of her head with a closed fist and grabbed her purse.

She then kneed him in the groin and pushed him away. The suspect then fled the area with her purse.

EMS responded to her home but the victim denied needing medical treatment.

The investigation is ongoing.
