Investigation continues into cause of paper mill fire in North Charleston

An investigation is underway into what caused Friday's  early morning fire at the MeadWestvaco Kapstone paper mill on Virginia Avenue.

North Charleston, and Charleston firefighters responded to the call that came in at 2:13 a.m., according to the Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch Center.

First arriving firefighters from North Charleston found that the Kapstone Fire Brigade had contained the fire to the paper machine of origin North Charleston firefighters assisted the brigade with extinguishment of the fire.

The cause is under investigation and there were no reported injuries in this event.
