Shot of alligator crossing the road in front of Rep. Wendell Gilliard as he drove home from Myrtle Beach and stopped by Sandy Island Sunday afternoon.
South Carolina Rep. Wendell Gilliard sent us this video early Monday morning, as he encountered a gator crossing the road Sunday afternoon.

"Saw this [Sunday] coming from Myrtle beach", said Gilliard. We decided to go to Sandy Island boat landing to take in the view , while leaving the dock area we encountered something rare.'

The video shows Gilliard's vehicle approach a large gator in the opposite lane, and in no apparent hurry to cross the road.

Gilliard added in his email to us, "I see why the people on Sandy Island need a ferry boat instead of having to use only small boats to go on and off the island".
