ALDOT Mobile tweeted Saturday morning that one northbound lane of I-65 W.K. Wilson Bridge is open at mile marker 27. Use caution due to restricted lane width.

UPDATE: 12:30pm, Friday, May 23, 2014
Interstate 65 northbound will remain closed until Sunday afternoon with a detour at Exit 19 (Creola) after a fiery crash on Thursday afternoon.

ALDOT officials say one lane will be opened on Sunday at 3:00pm as crews rush to cleanup and repair the section of road just south of what's commonly known as the "Dolly Parton Bridge."

ALDOT has confirmed one of the trucks involved in the crash was carrying petroleum, while the other truck contained plastics

The northbound lanes of I-65 will be further repaired in the coming months, ALDOT added.
UPDATE: 10:30am, Friday, May 23, 2014
Alabama officials are learning more about the fiery accident that claimed the life of a truck driver on Interstate 65 on Thursday.
According to the Alabama Department of Public Safety, a 2007 Freightliner truck came to a stop for a crash near what's referred to as the "Dolly Parton Bridge." A second truck then collided into the rear of the Frieghtliner, killing the driver at the scene. The driver of the Frieghtliner escaped with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators are having difficulties identifying the deceased and the rear truck due to the fire caused by the accident.
A third vehicle was damaged in the wreck from debris.
UPDATE: 2:30am, Friday, May 23, 2014

Interstate 65 northbound is still closed at Exit 19 (Satsuma, Creola, US 43 exit) and will be until further notice. Engineers are expected to inspect the W.K. Wilson Jr bridge (locally referred to as the Dolly Parton bridge) sometime after daybreak today.
ALDOT Officials are expected to give an update on the condition of the bridge at 11:30am this morning.

The collision of two trucks near the Dolly Parton Bridge killed one person and led to a massive fire that left a steaming pile of debris on Interstate 65.

Fire crews were called to the bridge Thursday afternoon with the fire still roaring and traffic slowed to a complete stop.

Police have released no information on the wreck, other than that one person is confirmed dead. The person's name was not released.

Scanner reports soon after crews responded on scene indicated there was some kind of flammable materials in own of the trucks, perhaps barrels of oil and grease, though that information has not been confirmed by police.

Based on images from the scene, it appears one truck rear-ended the other. The front door of the first truck was open minutes after the crash, though it's unclear if the driver managed to escape before the flames broke out.

The northbound side of the bridge is expected to remain closed until Friday at the earliest. Traffic will be diverted away from the crash site.
