OKLAHOMA CITY, OK -

A new gun range in Oklahoma City will serve beer, wine and other alcoholic beverages but with a tight safety system in place, KFOR reported.

The city council allowed the new gun range to get the license. The range general manager Jeff Swanson promised that liquor and guns will never mix.

"Once you have a drink, your driver's license will be scanned and then red-flagged and you'll be prohibited from entering the lanes as a shooter or a spectator for the rest of the day," Swanson explained.

The owners even argued that their place will be safer than many restaurants, according to KFOR.

"Right now in Oklahoma you can open carry into restaurants that serve liquor. That's all part of Oklahoma law, we've taken steps way beyond even restaurants," Swanson told KFOR.

The range will still have to get the approval from the Oklahoma Alcoholic Beverage Law Enforcement Commission, according to the KFOR story.
