2 suspects in custody following deadly moped shooting in Florence County

Posted: Updated:
FLORENCE, SC - Florence County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a deadly shooting that happened on a street Wednesday night.

The incident happened on Candy Lane  just south of Florence around 8:30 pm, said Capt. Mike Nunn of the Florence County Sheriff's Dept.

The man who was shot was identified as Edward Windham, age 33, of the Florence area, said Keith von Lutcken, Florence County Coroner.

Windham was riding on his moped west on Candy Lane when he was shot, von Lutcken said.

Windham's body will be sent to the Medical University of S.C. Thursday morning for an autopsy.

Candy Lane is located in the Tara Village Subdivision, which is south of Florence.

Nunn reports as of Thursday morning, two suspects are in custody.  Cory Allen, 28, and Frederick Allen, 29, both of Manning have been charged with murder. The brothers are currently being held at the Florence County Detention Center.

The incident is being investigated by the Florence County Sheriff's Office.

Note: An earlier version of this story referenced a different Candy Lane in Florence County. There are apparently two such roads. WBTW regrets the confusion.
