RAVENEL, SC - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit is investigating an collision that was reported at 5 a.m., Friday morning, involving a semi-tractor trailer and a dump truck on Hwy 17 near Old Jacksonboro Road in Ravenel.

One southbound lane has been closed and they are closing both northbound lanes to clean the roadway following Friday's crash..  Major Watson says there is a lot of debris on the road to clear off.  The northbound lanes may be closed for about an hour..

According to our deputies, the dump truck was parked in the median preparing for a trash pickup when a semi-tractor trailer  traveling southbound swerved and collided with it head-on.

Both drivers were transported to Medical University of South Carolina  to be treated for their injuries. Both drivers had severe injuries and are in serious condition. This accident is being investigated by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.

    Moncks Corner Police investigators are investigating an assault at Berkeley high school. The assault took place on Monday between two teenage males. A 15-year-oldmale was found unresponsive when police arrived. He wassuffering from head injuries. The studentwas taken to the hospital and remains in serious condition. Another 15-year-old male was arrested and charged with assault. Police need additional information about what happened. If you have any information, call crimestoppers at 554-1111.
