U.S. Postal Service revs up mail with new hot rod stamps

Posted: Updated:
Hot Rods have captured the attention of people across America since the 1920s. Car enthusiasts in Southern California would purchase cheap roadsters and modify them for drag racing on the open roads. With a souped-up engine, lowered chassis and jacked up wheels, these fierce monsters on wheels were unlike anything that had rolled off assembly lines. The world of Hot Rod cars still thrives today and is showcased throughout American pop culture - from movies and television to car shows and museums.

The United States Postal Service will release the new, limited edition Hot Rods Forever® stamps to honor America's pastime of customizing cars. Barry Meguiar, lifelong car enthusiast, president of Meguiar's Car Wax and host of "Car Crazy" Television, will unveil the stamp at the National Street Rod Association - East plus Conference in York, PA.

Each year, the U.S. Postal Service honors the "Best of America" by introducing limited-edition stamps that celebrate various American passions, including hot rods. The new stamps appeal to automotive buffs of all ages, celebrating the fast, powerful vehicles that thrill-seekers have been modifying for nearly a century.

Each of the two stamps showcase an iconic 1932 Ford "Deuce" roadster, the most popular hot rod model of its time. The stamps will be available for purchase at major Post Office locations across the country and online at usps.com/stamps and ebay.com/stamps .
