Pat McKinney drops out of the lieutenant governor race

Posted: Updated:
June 12, 2014 - Charleston businessman Pat McKinney has dropped out of the race for the next lieutenant governor of South Carolina.

A spokesperson with McKinney's office says the decision is "100% personal, not political."

McKinney lost his father and father-in-law in the last two months. McKinney's campaign manager, Taylor Hall, says that McKinney is ready to be a full-time husband, father and grandfather.

With McKinney dropping out, Mike Campbell will face Henry McMaster in the runoff scheduled for June 24, 2014.
