Posted: Updated:
CHARLESTON, SC - The 7th Remembrance Ceremony for the Charleston 9 will be conducted at the former Sofa Super Store site, 1807 Savannah Highway, on Wednesday, June 18, 2014.

The ceremony will begin promptly at 7 p.m. and will include a lineup of department personnel, the reading of the nine names and ringing of the bell, followed by bagpipes.

The community is invited to join the department and family members as we pause to reflect on the tragic loss of June 18, 2007.

Firefighter program teaches lessons 5 years after Sofa Super Store fire

Last year, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation released a video entitled "Charleston 9: The Ultimate Sacrifice". The documentary focused on the recovery of the Charleston Fire Department after the Sofa Super Store incident. The twenty-five minute documentary provides an overview of the department's changes and improvements since the fire.
