Florida couple treads water for 14 hours before being rescued

Broward County, FL - A Florida couple is safe after being stranded for 14 hours in the open water without life jackets.

Their boat capsized overnight dumping them into the ocean.

An off-duty detective and firefighter spotted the duo along Hallandale Beach and brought them to safety with help from the Coast Guard.

No injuries were reported. Officials are warning boaters to travel with personal emergency equipment just in case something goes wrong on the water.
