Investigation underway into fire at Ashley Oaks Apartments in West Ashley

WEST ASHLEY, SC - An investigation is underway into an early morning fire at Ashley Oaks Apartments in West Ashley.

According to Charleston City Fire, crews from Charleston Fire, St Andrews Fire, Charleston County EMS, and Charleston City Police Departments arrived at 12:13 a.m. Monday morning to Ashley Hall Plantation Road following reports of a structure fire.

Officials say eight apartments were affected by the fire.  The entire building was evacuated and crews contained the fire to one unit.

The fire was under control within 30 minutes.

The City of Charleston Fire Marshal Division is on scene and beginning their investigation.

The Red Cross arrived on scene around 3:30 a.m. Monday morning.  Caseworkers interviewed the victims and provided assistance
