Dianté Gibbs

Lowcountry native Dianté Gibbs is a Digital Content Producer for WCBD News 2. His role serves as a transition channel from broadcast-focused to multi-platform-focused news.

Specifically, Dianté writes, develops, edits, and publishes content that goes beyond what is produced on the air. Multi-platforms include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and etc. He further uses social media to expand the News 2 brand and attract viewers. Dianté carefully plans a story with a focus on emphasis, format, and organization, and ensures content meets standards for integrity and quality.

His hobbies include photography 📷, traveling 🧳, practicing mixology 🥂, skateboarding 🛹, playing video games 🕹️, and spending quality time with friends and family 💙

Dianté attended Winthrop University where he obtained a B.A. in Mass Communication with a minor in Leadership Studies in spring 2017, followed by an M.A. in Communication from Queens University of Charlotte in the summer of 2020.

Dianté is no stranger to WCBD News 2 as he interned with the station in the summer of 2016 when the station was owned by Media General. During his internship, Dianté acquired a plethora of knowledge about what it took to work in the news industry; he leaned more towards producing over reporting and directing.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree, he began work with the City of Charleston Recreation Department as a part-time recreation leader in October 2017. Six months later he was promoted to a full-time Recreation Specialist in April 2018, and promoted again to community center manager after a year of employment. At this point, he enrolled at Queens University of Charlotte to pursue his master’s degree and began graduate studies in fall 2018.

With the City of Charleston, Dianté coordinated various programs and activities for the Charleston community, including social events, camps, athletic events, and afterschool programs. In his role, he made sure to implement and operate specific programs that address areas of disparity in Charleston.

Six months after receiving his master’s degree, Dianté resigned from his management role with the City of Charleston and began employment with Dorchester School District 2 (DD2) in February 2021 at Gregg Middle School as the school’s attendance secretary. While at Gregg, he maintained student attendance, discipline records, and court packets while supporting the school’s administrative functions.

After three months with DD2, Dianté accepted a digital content producer position at WCBD News 2 and began employment at the station in June 2021.
