Hanna Powers

Hanna is a Washington, D.C. native who made her way down south to attend the University of South Carolina on an athletic scholarship. She made the most of her time in Columbia graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She was a four-year lettered Varsity Equestrian, active in student government as a member of the student body president’s cabinet and is now an alumni member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.

Always on the go, Hanna has completed internships on Capitol Hill, at Sarasota Magazine and on-air with Carolina News and Reporter where stories on public housing and Veteran’s Day are personal favorites.

Although never really “off duty”, you can find Hanna hanging out with 4-legged creatures of all types. Since arriving in town, the low country’s charms have captivated her so you will see her out and about taking it all in!

Hanna is passionate in her opinion that local news is critical in helping community members stay connected and she is committed to finding fresh new ways to keep folks engaged. “Everything is local” is her mantra and she is grateful to bring that to life in her wonderful new hometown of Charleston.
