
Raymond Owens has been working at News 2 for more than 13 years. He is currently a Digital Journalist, which means he shoots, edits and reports his stories.
He was the only reporter to receive a statement from SC First Lady Jenny Sanford in person and on camera the day Gov. Mark Sanford admitted to having had an affair. He also reported live from Vice President Dick Cheney’s visit to Charleston Air Force Base. He field produced News 2’s live coverage of 3 Presidential Debates during the 2008 election season.
He received a regional Edward R. Murrow award for his work on newscasts at WCBD. His work has also been nominated for an Emmy. He has twice been selected to attend the Poynter Institute for Journalism in Tampa, Florida.
Raymond has also worked at WKCL, WSSX and WTMA radio stations in Charleston.
In his spare time, Raymond enjoys spending time with his 2 daughters. They enjoy going to the beach, or heading to the Smoky Mountains for vacation.
